The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Wednesday, donated mobile medical kits worth N201,500,000 to the Internally Displaced Persons in the North-Eeast.
According to the Programme Coordinator and Head of Office of UNFPA, Mariame Daboe, the donation of the healthcare facilities was aimed at addressing the post-insurgency challenges in the crises-ridden areas including Borno, Yobe, Gombe and Adamawa state.
The medical kits including delivery kits, intra-uterine devices and referral kits for reproductive health among others are meant to help the affected women and children in the affected areas.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, the Medical Specialist with UNFPA, Doctor Audu Alayande explained that the portability of the kits donated will enable displaced users to have treatments similar to that of established hospitals.
The kits and equipment, he said, consist of supplies and commodities that are required by any human being to access health care services.
Recieving the items, the Secretary of Kaduna chapter of Nigerian Red Cross, Shehu Umar Abdul assured that strong mechanisms have been put in place to prevent diversion of the items as data of the sharers, who are mostly volunteers have been captured.
