The Registrar of the University, Mrs. Rifkatu Swanta speaking to newsmen yesterday in Abuja described the rumored sack as the machinations of the enemies of the university.
She said the story is fundamentally far from the truth and the handiwork of those who hate the tremendous achievement made by the present VC since assuming office a year ago.
“The university is presently enjoying a robust academic atmosphere under the present management, as you can see the students are currently rounding off their second semester examinations and the student union government election is currently on-going,’’ she said.
The Registrar further reminded the “detractors’’ that the vice chancellor has just spent the first year out of his five-year tenure adding that those who are interested in the post should wait till 2019 for another election into the office.
In a related development, the institution has declared that it does not indulge on irregular admission exercises or admitting students through the backdoor especially since the present administration came on board.
It will be recalled that the Registrar of JAMB, Professor Dibu Ojerinde had during the recently concluded 7th policy meeting on 2015 admissions, listed University of Abuja in the 4th position coming behind the University of Port Harcourt as amongst 15 varsities that are engaged in irregular admissions.
