Speaking at a colourful send-forth banquet organised by the department in honour of its retiring staff, the Bursar, Mr. Peter Agi urged them to see retirement as an opportunity to explore the world and chart new frontiers.
Mr. Agi said the department recognizes their efforts and contributions to the university, noting that, their work had laid the foundation upon which the department is growing.
The bursar enjoined the retirees not to see the occasion as a send-forth party as such because they will forever remain valuable to the department, stressing that the system still needs them and may have cause to fall back on them should the need arise.
Accordingly, he admonished the retirees to always share their invaluable experience with the younger ones when the opportunity presents itself, underscoring the need for all to see the department as a family poised to bring about operational changes in the system.
The retirees speaking separately were unanimous in their appreciation of the bursar and the department for deeming it fit to honour them, noting that, it was the first time the whole department was honouring its retirees in such a manner.
The retirees while giving account of their individual experiences during their stay in the university called on their younger colleagues to imbibe the spirit of selfless service, humility, love and team spirit in the work place for their own good.
