UNICEF donates educational materials to Borno IDPs children

Presenting the materials in Maiduguri, the state Commissioner for Universal Basic Education, Dr. Zainab Gimba Kyari, who was represented by the Director, School Services, Mallam Ali Bukar, said the educational materials were to be distributed to various primaryand junior secondary schools designated within some IDPs camps to enable the children to continue their studies.
The Commissioner also urged principals and headmasters of the 11 benefiting schools to use the materials for the purpose intended.
Our correspondent reported that the donated educational materials by UNCEF included mathematical sets, recreational items and writing materials. In addition, the teachers will be trained on how to use the items. However, the Borno Express Corporation is planning to support IDPs children by conveying them to some schools within the Maiduguri metropolis.
Speaking on behalf of the benefiting schools’ leaders, the Headmaster of Kirikasamma Primary School, Mallam Shettima Mustapha, thanked the donors for contributing to the development of education in Borno state.
