The Taraba Health Care Development Agency, in conjunction with UNICEF, has sensitised women across the 16 local government areas of the state on polio and other child killer  diseases. 

Speaking during the exercise which was done through compound meetings, 

Aminu Hassan, the Executive Secretary of the Health Care Development Agency,  said the meeting was aimed at making contact  with women directly at the community level to sensitise them on effects of the child killer diseases and the importance of routine immunization for both mothers and children.

The executive director said women and community leaders were also informed on the importance of    personal hygiene and attendance  of antenatal for pregnant mothers.

He said that the local government area focal persons, health educators and World Health Organisations (WHO) facilitators at that level as well as media representatives were made  part of  campaign team.

He also commended the roles played Mrs  Saraya Bello,  Health Educator in the LGA  for encouraging the women to patronize health  facilities in their localities and ensuring that their children 0 to 9 months received their vaccination at regular intervals.

Hassan also called on the local government to provide a dispensary in the area to encourage members of the  community to access health care services.
