A statement signed by the Deputy Registrar in charge of Information and Publication, Steve Otowo, said the Governing Council of the University approved the promotions to take effect from October 1, 2011.
Those promoted, according to the statement, include Professors Dashak Albert from the Department of Chemistry, Nelson Ochekpe from Pharmaceutical Chemistry; I.S. Okafor (Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Technology); Clement Dakas (International Law & Jurisprudence); and Lannap Lohkap (Educational Foundation).
Others listed in the statement include Professors Anne Okwudire (Special Education), Timothy Namo (Plant Science & Technology), Dominic Asada (Commercial Law), Emmanuel Alemika (Pharmaceutical Chemistry), Jotham Kangdim (Religion & Philosophy), Alubo Alphonsus (Commercial Law), S.S. Maimako (Management Studies), Isaac Lar (English), Job Feredrocl (Building), and John Mawak (Microbiology).  
The rest are professors Audu Gambo (Political Science), Fabian Puepet (Medicine), Samuel Odeh (Physiology), Peter Osuorji (Special Education), Charles Onwochei (Religious Studies), Longbab Nanram (Education Foundation), Paul Pam (Education Foundation), Amadi kemakolam (Physiology), Dimis Mailafia (Economics), and Lami Lombin (Zoology).
