It was a gathering of intellectuals giveng the calibre of those in attendance, who are not only personalities of high repute, but also journalists who have distinguished themselves in their chosen career.
The event also featured presentation of awards to Dr. Ogah Emmanuel Edeoja, Professor Bayo Lawal, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics of Unilorin, Mr. Abdulkareem Abiodun, Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kwara State chapter; and Dr. Mahfouz Adedimeji, the Director of Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies.
Guest speaker at the event, Dr. Mahfouz Adedimeji, who also doubles as Patron and Staff Adviser of the union pointed out that “the problem facing Nigeria is nation building and is traceable to ineffective communication. The end result is conflict and crises. Journalism is the oxygen of democracy and the profession is responsible for correcting the wrong doings of the society,” he added.
