Unilorin holds reunion for doctors

The event, tagged “30th Year Reunion and Public Lecture” was graced by pioneer Vice Chancellor of the University, Emeritus Professor Oladipupo Olujimi Akinkugbe, and a former Vice Chancellor, Emeritus Professor Adeoye Adeniyi.
In his paper titled “Still Too Many Loose Ends to Tie”, Prof. Akinkugbe lauded the management of the university for sustaining the institution’s enviable quality, noting that Unilorin was among the top in the ranking order of universities in Nigeria.
“I continue to be very proud of your heritage and pray that you will all continue to fulfill our nation’s highest expectations of playing a major role in creating and sustaining best international practices in the three vital areas of teaching, research and service.”
Prof. Akinkugbe described the 1978-1984 set of the College of Health Sciences as outstanding ambassadors of the University’s Medical School, now drawing expertise from different continents of the world. He advised the former students to make their alma mater as good as what is accessible in other parts of the world.
The Provost, College of Health Sciences, Prof. Omotoso, extolled the virtues of Prof Akinkugbe, whom he said was his teacher and has contributed immensely to the field of education and medicine.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Sciences), Prof. Yisa Fakunle, described Prof. Akinkugbe as a “distinguished father of Medicine.”
Appreciating the former lecturers, the class captain of the 1978-1984 Class, Dr. Ebun Bamgboye, a Consultant Nephrologist and Clinical Director, described the former teachers as “pillars that made us into what we are today.” Bamgboye disclosed the donation of a set of medical equipments to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.
Olawale is a 300 level student of History at Unilorin
