While inaugurating the committee under the chairmanship of Professor Abdullahi Haruna Godowoli, the vice chancellor said there are so many reasons to celebrate the university at forty because it is the first in the North-East and had excelled in scholarship.
“The university has expanded rapidly, both physically and in the area of academic excellence. As an alumnus of this great university, it is gratifying and fulfilling for me to be the vice chancellor when the institution will be commemorating its 40th Anniversary on 1st October, 2015.
“Besides my humble self, the immediate past VC, Professor Mohammed Daura, as well as VCs of Moddibo Adamawa University of Technology Yola (MAUTECH), Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi (ATBU), and Adamawa State University among others are alumni of this great university.
“The institution is also proud to have three alumni recently elected as governors in their states, waiting to take the oath of office on May 29, 2015. They are Governor Kashim Shettima, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello and Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu of Borno, Niger and Abia states.
“This is in addition to many distinguished members of the national and states assembly. In the field of law, many products of the university who have distinguished themselves on the Bar, Bench and academia such as Chief John Kyari Gadzama SAN; Michael Aondokaa SAN, former Attorney General and Minister of Justice among others are all alumni of the institution,” Professor Njodi stated.
The VC therefore urged the committee to justify the confidence reposed in them, as they are expected to submit report within two weeks from the day of the inauguration.
