The workers also said at the weekend that their action was also propelled by the company’s refusal to pay their gratuity benefits, severance packages, pension arrears as adopted at the National Joint Industrial Council agreement for 2011 and 2013, as well as the non-release of cooperative money which has grown to over N13million.
The embattled workers who besieged the premises of the company as early as 8 a.m.displayed placards with various inscription such as ‘we are saying no to slavery and victimization,’ ‘Our NJIC for 2011-2013 must be paid.’
Speaking to journalists after the protest, branch secretary of the union, Comrade Maxwell Ochuko explained that in August 2002, workers of the company who were owed seven months protested against the development.
Ochuko added that in May 2012, the company reduced its workforce with the intent to cut down overhead, noting that three months later 25percent of entitlement for those workers were paid with the remaining on hold.
He said on 16th February 2013, Babalakin promised to revive the company and pay workers arrears which he had not fulfilled, among other complaints.
According to him, on the 30th of June 2015, Babalakin dashed the hope of workers when he said that the company had failed and that he had not earned any money from it in the  last seven years.
