Union chairman, Research Sector F.A Uwadiae made the appeal while speaking at a two-day Sectoral Council meeting held at the Nigerian Institute of Science and Laboratory Technology (NISLT).
He said the time has come for research institutes to take their rightful place in the country by attracting deserved attention to funding from government.
“The research institute will not develop unless there is adequate funding. And this comes with research findings and renovation of decayed infrastructure in research institutes for optimal performance,” he said.
The Union leader also called on government to quicken the release of the 12 months arrears and other demands to staff of research institutes and associated institutions.
In his remark, Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of science laboratory Technology (NISLT) Dr. Ighodalo Ijagbone, said the NISLT management will continue to create good welfare schemes for staff to enable them improve economically, educationally as well as in the area of manpower development.
