Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE) has faulted the federal government’s water policy which favoured Public-Private Partnership in the distribution of water in the country.
The President of the union, Comrade Solomon Adelegan, in a statement said  that the adoption of Public-Private- Partnership  in the distribution of water is riddled with corruption, poor service delivery and unbearable tariffs which will make water inaccessible to the majority of the citizenry.
“We are aware that in the process to maximize profits under Public-Private Partnership or Privatization, the members of the public are made to drink unsafe water and therefore become vulnerable to water related diseases such as cholera, diarrhea, typhoid fever etc thereby resulting in mass deaths and making governments to spend more in providing health services to the citizenry’’.
