The Bayelsa State branch of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, has trained over 120 persons in the state public service on capacity building to strengthen the state`s economic growth.

Speaking during the training in Yenagoa, the state chairman of the association, Mr Tari Dounana, said that the participants cut across MDA’s in  the state.

Dounana, who is also chairman of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) in the state, explained that the 2018 seminar tagged, ‘Industrial Harmony and Leadership Innovation as Tools for Public Service Growth’, was meant to give workers the knowledge for quality service.

Mrs Ebiuwou Obiyai, the member representing Yenagoa Constituency II in the Baylesa House of Assembly, stressed  the importance of capacity building to public service growth.

Obiyai, who was guest speaker at the seminar, also emphasised the need for employers and employees to respect civil service rules, adding that harmonious relationship would go a long way in developing the state and nation’s economy.

She identified low expertise, poor capacity building, inefficient incentive system, outdated rules as well as political interference as threats to public service growth.
