President of the union Comrade Bobboi Kaigama said at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of TUC in Kaduna recently that the houses will be completed with necessary infrastructural facilities.
The communiqué the president co-signed with the Secretary General of the union, Barrister Musa Lawal said the two unions must be duly represented on the boards of FMBN, National Housing Fund (NHF) and other relevant bodies involved in housing projects for workers.
It said FMBN must render monthly progress reports on the project to the two labour centres and ensure that all pre-existing, present and future records of NHF contributions made by workers are duly updated and made readily and easily accessible to the contributors.
According to the TUC, full refund of contributions plus accrued interest thereon be immediately made to workers who were wrongfully denied the houses under previous schemes and that relevant portions of the law be reviewed to compel employers to be more transparent and accountable to their workers on matters relating to remission of contributions to the NHF on behalf of the workers as and when due.
The union advised the federal government to inject funds into NHF similar to what was done in the banking sector and some other sectors.
It implored the governments of the various states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to make grants of suitable land for the housing scheme.
