No fewer than 7,000 students offered admission by the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State for the 2016/2017 academic session, yesterday matriculated.

Addressing the students, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, said his vision for the institution is to raise its visibility to be among one of the best 500 in the world, among the best 100 in Africa and the best in Nigeria.

He said the management is harnessing human and material resources from within and outside the university in the pursuit of the actualization of the goal.

Ahaneku revealed that the school has instituted a work-aid scheme of N10, 000 to assist some indigent and physically challenged students as well as a Group Personal Insurance Scheme covering death, permanent disability or illness of students or sponsors.

While warning the students to shun cultism, certificate forgery and all forms of examination misconduct, the Vice Chancellor stressed the need for prompt payment of fees as well as attendance to lectures to avert the attendant consequences.
