Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, vice chancellor of the university, Professor Benjamin Ozumba, expressed deep appreciation
to Chief Chukwuma, saying the donor has contributed immensely to the advancement of education in the country.
“I want to specially thank Chief Chukwuma for his magnanimity.  It is not everybody that has money or resources that is willing to give, but in his quest to help in repositioning education in Nigeria, especially business education, where he has distinguished himself, Innoson has graciously donated this building to the university. It is remarkable.
“From outside I could not appreciate the magnitude and beauty of this building, but when I went inside and saw the classrooms and the auditorium, I knew that it would make a difference in academics,
intellectualism and advancement of business, not only in this university but in Nigeria in general.
“Chief Chukwuma has blazed the trail as a successful businessman by being the first Nigerian to set up a motor manufacturing industry successfully.  I am hereby commissioning our writers to write an autobiography, even at this early stage of Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma so that young people will read it and see how he was able to achieve so much. He stands out as an icon.
“It is said that achievements made by great people were not made by sudden flight, they worked at nights while others slept. I was able to observe that life has not been a bed of roses for him. He had to cross many oceans and rivers to get to this height, and today, we are beneficiaries of his largesse,” the vice chancellor said.
Speaking during the occasion, Chief Chukwuma said he embarked on the project in his humble quest for academic excellence in the country. He advised members of staff and students of the Department of Business Administration to utilise the building judiciously for the development of business education in the country.
Chukwuma, who recalled that he had donated other buildings to some academic institutions, including the one recently built for the Department of General Studies, Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), said that despite competing financial needs, he had continued to invest in education in realisation of his avowed commitment towards quality upbringing of the youth in the country.
In her remark, the dean, Faculty of Business Administration, Professor Justie Nnabuko, expressed gratitude to the donor for honouring an appeal made by the former dean, Chief John Eze. “We are here today to commission this building with our hearts filled with gratitude to this illustrious son of our land who has magnanimously shown us love.  If he did not love us, his academic family, he would not bestow on us his hard earned money to so use.  Our prayer for him is that God would continue to shower him with favour in all areas of his business and give him riches untold so that he will continue to do good works,” Professor Nnabuko said.
