UNN glows as Flavour, Korede, others thrill

 

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka joined the tertiary institutions in the country that have experienced the Glo Campus Storm which held on Friday.

The show which featured award-winning artistes like Flavour, Korede Bello and Runtown serenaded the students and members of the university community with popular pulsating music that got attendees dancing through the night.

Excited “lions and lionesses” as students of UNN are fondly called thronged the Ekpo Convention Centre, located at the heart of the university community, to savour the show, emceed by the merchant of jokes, Gordons.

Ten lucky students who emerged as the Glo Campus Data Dude and the Glo Campus Data Diva won cash prizes ranging from N50, 000 to N100, 000. They also have the chance of winning a scholarship worth N1million at the grand finale of the contest. 

With DJ Neptune on the wheel of steel, dishing out incessant delightful tunes, the UNN edition of the Glo Campus Storm was one show the university community will remember for a long time to come.

The show kicked off with a dancing competition which brought out the manifest skills of the students. At the end of the competition, Ibekwe Chinedu, a 200 level student of Political Science came first.  He was followed by Ugochukwu Victoria of the Department of Theatre arts, while the third position went to Chubuike David Ejiofor, a year one student of Agric Economics. The intriguing dance steps of Otubo Vivian Uche of the Department of English Language, earned her great applause from the crowd.

This was closely followed by the performances of upcoming artistes on the campus. The artistes included Kelwizz, Kris Jay, Mareez, Wills, Mandy, Chido Keys, Sinopizi and Zee Rawkpokpo, who all received standing ovation from attendees.

The event climaxed when the contestants for the Glo Campus Data Dude and the Glo Campus Data Diva came on stage for their choreography.  

Welcoming attendees to the show, Globacom’s Head of Operations, South-South, Mr. Enekwachi Aja, said that the show was organised “to reward the youth segment of our teeming subscriber base and to encourage them to tap into the world of opportunities available for them to win scholarship worth N1 million by using the Glo Campus Booster Data services.”

From Nsukka, the Glo Campus Storm show moves to the Abia State University, Uturu yesterday.

Halle Berry Makes an Unexpected Cameo on Bruno Mars’ ‘24K Magic’ Album

Bruno Mars’ new album ‘24K Magic’, dropped on Friday, and Halle Berry fans are in for a treat. The ageless actress appears on the track “Calling All My Lovelies,” in which Mars reaches her voicemail and she blows a kiss. 

“Hi, you’ve reached Halle Berry,” Berry says. “Sorry, I can’t get to the phone right now, but if you leave your name and number, I’ll get right back to you.” 

It’s a busy time for 31-year-old Mars, who announced a massive tour supporting his new album on Tuesday. The 24K Magic World Tour will have the singer playing over 85 shows across the globe, and marks his first full-length tour since his Moonshine Jungle World Tour in 2013. 

The GRAMMY-winning artist is also appearing on CBS’ ‘60 Minutes’ this Sunday, in which he opens up about his humble childhood home in Hawaii — a one-room building in a park that’s now grown-over by plants and missing a roof. Despite living in poverty, Mars insists his memories from growing up are “the best.” 

“We had it all. We had each other,” he explains about his close-knit family. “It’s OK, we don’t have electric today. We’re gonna figure it out. 

“Maybe that’s why I have this mentality when it comes to the music,” he muses. “I’m gonna figure it out.” 

And it’s safe to say he’s done more than “figure it out.” Mars is now one of the most sought-after artists in the industry, and earlier this month, ET exclusively confirmed that he’s performing at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show this year in Paris.
