Unscheduled visit exposes rot in Kano planning office

Cobwebs and unkempt files compete with staff in the organisation which is one of the parastatals under the ministry of Lands and Physical Planning in the state. The rot overwhelmed the newly appointed commissioner in charge of the ministry, Dr. Farouk Bibi Farouk who paid an impromptu visit to the place last Monday.
Our correspondent who monitored the commissioner’s visit reports that from outside, KNUPDA looked okay but internally the offices are horrible.
In one of the directors’ office, all files on his table were dusty and the stench oozing from the rug on the floor was scaring. The occupant of the office is one of the directors in the agency.
The agency has about 400 staff operating from the headquarters and other offices across the state.
Farouk who was dismayed said, “Our target is to beautify Kano so that investors from across the country can invest in the state. “I’ll do my best…cooperate with us to turn around our state,” he advised.
Lamenting the rot, the Managing Director of the agency, Architect Bashir Adamu Mudi stressed the need for attitudinal change among the workforce of organisation.
