UPN cautions against not holding elections on rescheduled dates

“INEC, the NSA, security forces and the President, Commander -in-Chief of the Armed Forces have a responsibility to ensure the general elections hold on rescheduled dates and must ensure that the new dates are not rescheduled again under any circumstance,” stated National Secretary  of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Sokoto, while addressing a press conference in Sokoto.
He added: “Similarly, the handover date of 29th May, 2015 is non negotiable and must remain sacrosanct as any attempt to tamper with it will amount to truncating our democracy and putting the peace, unity and political stability of our nation at risk.”
He said they are yet to come to terms with the reasons for the postponement of the 2015 election.
The UPN national secretary described the reasons given as unacceptable  and untenable.
He also described  the alleged stories making the rounds of putting some opposition leaders  under military watch as “taking us back to the dark days of dictatorship.”
The UPN scribe also noted that the move may also be a challenge to peace.
He called on Nigerians to resist any attempt to remove INEC chairman Prof.Jega, which he said would pave way to massively rig the 2015 general elections.
