The recent installation Oba Saliu Adetunji as the Olubadan of Ibadanland is  generating dust among prominent chiefs in the ancient city
To this end, Seriki chiefs of Ibadanland have concluded plans  to drag Governor Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, the state Attorney General and the Olubadan-in-Council to court over the emergence of Oba Saliu Adetunji as the Olubadan of Ibadanland, the Head of Seriki, Chief Bayo Oyediji has said.
Head of Seriki, Chief Bayo Oyediji, who disclosed this in Ibadan, said he had  obtained the directive of the Seriki line members to sue the governor and the state Attorney General over the installation.
“We shall not be violent about it but we want justice and we shall follow the rule of law. We shall continue to stand on the court contempt, injunction, an agreement we have with the Olubadan-in-council” he told journalists in Ibadan yesterday.
Oba Adetunji was installed and presented the staff of office by Governor Ajimobi on Feburary 12, 2016, following the transition of the former Olubadan, the late Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade I who passed on January 19, 2016.
Speaking at a press conference, the Head of Seriki, Chief Bayo Oyediji insisted that the installation of Oba Adetunji was “illegal and unjust” saying he remained the senior chief in Ibadanland and ought to be installed as the new Olubadan.
“I am the first to be installed as a traditional member in Ibadan and I have been playing my role for the development of Ibadan since I became a chief. I am not a violence person but I’m just concerned about the peace and progress of this land,” he said.
He vowed that he will not relent in his plan to sue the state governor until he reversed the installation of Oba Adetunji as the new Olubadan just as he showcased his certificate duly signed by the Sole Administrator of Ibadan District Council, J.A Akinbami on May 10, 1976 after he was promoted from Mogaji Ile Eesubiyi to Ekefa Seriki by the late Oba Gbadamosi Adebimpe.
