The Police Service Commission (PSC) on Thursday removed Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin as the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Edo State Command.

Her removal came following the killing of 16 travellers in Uromi, Esan North East LGA of Edo State.

Otimenyin has been replaced by Monday Agbonika.

Addressing the new CP when he visited the PSC headquarters in Abuja, the commission’s boss, Hashimu Argungu, a retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, directed him to prevent reprisals in the state.

He said, “Look into the issues surrounding the recent killings in the state. You must be proactive to prevent reprisals from the recent killings.

“You have to sit up and also work to win the confidence of the people, consult relevant stakeholders and always document every incident and action taken and make sure those who should be informed are properly informed of your actions.”

In his reaction, Agbonika promised the PSC that he would stand by relevant laws in the discharge of his duties and would always depend on the Inspector General of Police for necessary guidance.

He is a seasoned police officer with 32 years of experience which covered operations, investigation, administration, Police Public Information and Area/Divisional Police Management.
