The United States government has appointed Mr Russlle Brooks as the information officer for its mission in Abuja. He succeeded Mr Sean J. McIntosh.
Brooks had a seventeen years of hands-on, detail-oriented experience in network television production. He had worked with ABC news as a writer/producer and Associate Director of ABC Sports. 
Prior to his current appointment, he was the former Public Affairs Officer of US embassy in Abidjan, Cote d’ Ivoire as well as former Special Assistant to the US Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs.
His Portfolio included Africa, East Asia, economic and environmental issues, as well as public outreach to curb wildlife trafficking.
He had served as the Special Assistant to the country’s Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of African Affairs from 2011 to 2012.
From July 2010 to 2011, he was the Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer in the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq. Spokesman for the Bureau of African Affairs from 2008 to 2010.
Mr Brooks, during a courtesy visit to Media Trust Headquarters in Abuja, promised to work with the Nigerian media to strengthen the warm relationship between Nigeria and United States.
