US NGOs donate N3bn medical equipment to Delta

Two US-based NGOs, Medshare Incorporation and A.D. King Foundation, have donated medical equipment and consumables worth N3 billion to the Delta State Government.

Mr Eben Armstrong, representative of Medshare Incorporation, made the disclosure at the inauguration and inspection of the equipment in Ibusa in Oshimili North LGA by outgoing Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Eben noted that aside from the items donated to the state government, 35 biomedical engineers trained by Medshare Incorporation would maintain, repair and service the equipment.

On his part, the Chairman, Delta State Contributory Health Insurance Scheme, Dr Isaac Akpoveta, said the equipment and consumables were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In his remarks, Okowa, who commended the donors, said the equipment would further help to improve the level of equipment in government hospitals across the state.
