The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA)

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has charged officers on leveraging technology and   new innovations in   emergency and disaster  management in the country.

 Director General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, said this in Benin during the 2024 customers’ service week of the agency with the theme “Above and Beyond”  

 She noted that the agency’s customers, whether  victims of natural disasters, displaced persons, or communities impacted by disasters, relied  on the agency to provide timely, efficient, and compassionate assistance.

 Represented by NEMA Head of Benin Operation office, Dahiru Yusuf, the DG urged officials of the agency  to continue seeking ways to improve  service delivery for victims of disasters.

 “We are in an era where technology is changing the landscape of emergency management, from early warning systems to disaster mapping and response coordination tools. 

 

“Therefore, let us embrace innovation and continuously improve our systems and processes to better serve the public,” he said.

 

He said the complexity of emergency situations requires collaboration across different departments and external partners, adding that, “By working together, sharing knowledge, and supporting each other, we can achieve even greater success in fulfilling our mission.”

 

She however charged NEMA officials to  reaffirm their commitment to working tirelessly  in achieving excellence in service delivery, innovation, and teamwork  in all their work.
