USPF deploys IT facilities in 1,336 school

The facilities are being deployed under the USPF School Access Programme (SAP), the agency said in Lagos.
It also plans to develop contents in line with national curriculum on education as a way of providing access to digital equipment in various secondary schools particularly in the remote areas.
The USPF Secretary, Mr. Abdullahi Maikano said during the inauguration of the SAP project at Oke Magba Senior High School, in Epe, Lagos that the programme, which start in 2007 had transformed ICT knowledge of students at various benefiting schools.
Maikano, who was represented by USPF Head of Information Technology Project, Mr. Abubakar Yakubu at the commissioning,  explained that 40per cent of the two and half per cent of income levy paid annually by telecos operators to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) goes into USPF.
According to him, each benefiting school under USPF SAP is given 100 computers with free internet access for one year.
He said such school also receives a 5KV solar power solution, ‘’we are aware of the power situation in this country, therefore, we equally provide 5kv solar power solution.’’
