Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, has welcomed Nova Bank to Owerri following the commissioning of the bank’s regional headquarters in the state capital.
Speaking at the unveiling, the governor assured the bank’s board, management and stakeholders that Imo State is open and ready for business, citing his administration’s investments in infrastructure and policies aimed at creating a conducive environment for economic growth and private sector participation.
Uzodinma described the establishment of Nova Bank’s regional office in Owerri as a strong vote of confidence in the state’s economic potential and a reflection of growing investor trust in Imo. He noted that the move aligns with the state government’s vision of transforming Imo from a leisure destination into a thriving commercial and investment hub.
The governor commended the chairman of Nova Bank, Mr. Philip Oduozor, for his experience and leadership in the banking sector, adding that the bank is well positioned to succeed in the state.
He also highlighted recent infrastructure improvements, including enhanced road networks, improved power supply and reforms in land administration, as key enablers for business growth. Uzodinma further encouraged Nova Bank to deepen its presence in the state, including the possibility of establishing its head office in Owerri.
In his remarks, Nova Bank Chairman, Mr. Philip Oduozor, expressed appreciation to the state government for providing an enabling environment and reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting small and medium-scale enterprises and driving economic development in Imo State and the wider South-East region.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by government officials, business leaders and stakeholders, and concluded with a tour of the bank’s facilities.
