The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects over alleged theft and vandalisation of electric cables and poles in the state.
The suspects, Chigozie Igbokwe, 41, and Emmanuel John, 45, were apprehended along the Gitata-Gunduma Road with stolen cables and tools allegedly used for the crime.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this in a statement issued in Lafia.
He said the suspects were arrested by a patrol team attached to the Gitata Division during a routine patrol.
“On March 6, 2026, at about 5:40am, a patrol team attached to the Gitata Division, while on routine patrol along the Gitata–Gunduma Road, apprehended two suspects in connection with the vandalisation of electric cables and poles,” he said.
Nansel added that items recovered from the suspects include stolen electric cables, iron cutters and a Hyundai Sonata car allegedly used to carry out the operation.
He said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Shettima Jauro Mohammed, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia for discreet investigation and prosecution.
