Vandals of power cable bag 2 years jail term

Two vandals of electric conductors (wire) in Kaduna have bagged two years imprisonment for vandalizing and carting away aluminum conductors worth over N600,000 on the Zaria-Soba 33KV power line.

The convicts, Dan’azumi Musa of Pambegua village and Haladu Abubakar of Zuntu village all in Kubau LGA of Kaduna State were arrested by the Nigeria Police Force, Zaria Area Command in Pambegua on September 26, 2017. 

 When arraigned before the Chief Magistrate’s Court, Kofar Fada, Zaria City on charges of criminal conspiracy, vandalism of power supply infrastructure and dishonestly receiving stolen items, offences punishable under the penal code law of Kaduna State, the accused admitted committing the offences. 

The Chief Magistrate, Ummaru Bature, convicted Dan’azumi Musa and Halidu Abubakar on a first count charge of conspiracy and sentenced them to six months imprisonment each with an option of N20,000 fine.
