The Moses Orshio Adasu University (MOAU), formerly known as Benue State University (BSU), has appointed a renowned sports administrator, Dr. Victor Terkimbi Ikpato, as its new Coordinator of Sports.

The letter of appointment signed by the Registrar, Barnabas Hemba stated that the appointment is for a tenure of two years with effect from April 9, 2026, and is renewable for another tenure of two years subject to satisfactory performance.

As the Coordinator of Sports, Ikpato will be responsible to the Vice Chancellor in directing the affairs of sports in the university.

In addition, he is to assist as well as advise the VC in evolving a sports development policy; advise the university authority on the purchase of sports equipment from time to time; advise on the construction, repairs and maintenance of sports facilities on campus and organise training of the university sportsmen and women for competitions like NUGA and WAUG.

Reacting to his appointment, Dr. Ikapto thanked the VC and the entire university management for the appointment, and the trust reposed in him.

“I assure you and the entire university community that I will strive to uplift Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University through meaningful and impactful sports programmes.

“My goal is to foster an environment that encourages participation, teamwork, and excellence, ensuring that our university remains a prominent figure in the realm of sports.

“I am excited to embark on this journey and will always prioritize the interests of our prestigious university,” he assured.

Meanwhile, Dr Ikpato, who replaces former Nigerian international Moses Kpakor, is a lecturer in the Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education in the Faculty of Education.

He once worked with the Benue State Sports Council and also served as Secretary of Benue State Football Association from 2016-2019.
