Fuwape stated this at a two-day workshop on terrorism in Nigeria organised by the university.
He said research provides ample opportunities to exchange ideas with colleagues from other institutions and learn from one another for the development of the country, noting that research outputs are vital tools to decision makers in formulating better policies.
“It is anticipated that this workshop will serve as a critical step in the ongoing process of sharing best practices for strengthening domestic counter-terrorism infrastructures and ensuring our common security,” he said.
According to him, through continued dialogue, implementation of sound policies and a comprehensive approach, long-term stability can be secured in the country.
Earlier, chairman of the local organising committee, Dr Felix Obayan, said terrorism has become a global phenomenon that requires the efforts of all Nigerians to stamp it out from the country.
