Former Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof. Olufemi Baniro, has called for the review of universities’ curriculum to meet industry requirement in the 21st century.

‎Prof Baniro said this at the University of Benin during the inauguration of Centre of Excellence in Reproductive Health (CERHI), established by World Bank. 

Delivering a lecture titled, “Sustainable Development Goal and the Nigeria University System” he said universities’ curriculum is disconnected from industrial and experience need for employment, resulting in unemployed graduates. 

“There is need for review of universities curriculum. Our universities need to focus on training, research, innovation and extension capability to tackle these problems. If we build the capacity of existing institutions through funding and research, we will have the capacity to solve the unemployment and technological challenges facing us as a nation,” he said.
