VC wants universities to embrace IT skills

The Vice Chancellor, Igbinedion University Okada (IUO), Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye, has stressed the need for universities to embrace new IT skills and career building programmes.

Ezemonye stated this at the opening of a Cisco Networking Academy South-South Instructors’ workshop held at the main campus of the university.

He said the workshop was in line with the institution’s vision to be a centre of academic excellence through teaching, research and knowledge production in response to contextualized national and global needs. “We believe that in order to increase the number of students that will excel in the current IT-driven world, future-ready, and industry-relevant, great care and deliberate effort need to be put into preparing industry-relevant instructors. Hence the need to partner with one of the top players in the ICT spheres in contemporary time,” he said.
