A non – governmental Organization, Education for All and Rights Advocacy Centre (EARAC), has said competence should be the basis for the appointment of vice chancellors across the nation.
The Country Representative Dr Godwin Abayomi, gave this warning in a press briefing where he advised the acting chairman of the Federal University Wukari, to ensure that competence was not sacrificed for mediocrity, even as he has condemned what he termed unmerited conspiracy in the appointment of a new vice chancellor for the university. “We notice desperate moves by some unqualified, incompetent and ineligible persons to form an unholy alliance with the Acting Council to undermine the existing university rules and regulations in the selection of a new vice chancellor for the university,” the organisation said.
