Velcroz Designs and Couture said it has launched its third female slippers, themed ‘Teema collections’.
The company which has become renowned for unveiling three designs in a year said the collection which was launched about a week ago, has sold about 100 pairs and is still taking orders.
In a statement, the COO/Creative Director, Abdulhameed Usman said the collection is very dear to him because it is named after his mother.
Abdulhameed who recently completed a master’s programme in Managing Innovation and Information Technology studies at University of Salford, United Kingdom said his company has produced and sold over 6,000 pairs of shoes since inception and “still counting”.
He said the company which was founded five years ago produces handcrafted luxury slippers, knit local caps and designs exotic native wears, and it sources all its raw materials locally, adding that the company is currently operating from two retail outlets with 15 staff.
“The release of Teema Collection is the first phase of the series of transformation of our designs, we will release our presidential series soon and we will be venturing into Bags and Belts Production,” the statement said.
“Velcroz Designs and Couture will be dedicating the parts of the profits accrued on the soon to be launched slippers to support people living with sickle cell. This will be the second round of humanitarian Outreach by Velcroz Designs and Couture.
“The first was the distribution of Velcroz Slippers to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in collaboration with the Mandara Foundation,” he said.
