The Executive Secretary, Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), Mrs Sharon Ikeazor, has said that the federal government has approved the payment of New Nigerian newspaper’s pensioners.
She said, in a telephone interview with Daily Trust, that the directorate has secured presidential approval to cue in New Nigerian newspaper pensioners into federal pension scheme.
Mrs Ikeazor said the directorate was awaiting instructions from the Federal Ministry of Finance to start verification of the pensioners.
She also said the directorate had completed verification of pensioners from federal ministries nationwide, adding that the directorate would soon embark on the exercise for pensioners under federal parastatals.
“The federal government does not want pensioners to suffer any more and we would ensure that all federal pensioners are paid their pension without delay,” Ikeazor said.
Mrs Ikeazor last year said that New Nigerian newspaper and Nigerian Railway pensioners would be paid their pension arrears in the first quarter of this year.
