Veteran actor, Ojo Arowosafe, popularly known as Fadeyi Oloro to lovers of films in the Yoruba film sector, is dead. According to an industry insider and the convener of the Best Of Nollywood awards, Seun Oloketuyi, the death of the legendary thespian was confirmed by family members.

Taking to his Instagram page, he wrote, “Fadeyi Oloro dies after a long sickness. His death was confirmed to us by close family members.”

It was gathered that the actor died on Tuesday evening after a protracted illness. The Ekiti-born actor rose to prominence during the 80s and late 90s for his famed herbalist character. Some reports stated that the actor had a long battle with kidney-related ailments, among other issues.

Arowosafe was born on September 15, 1957, in Igbara Odo, Ekiti, and became a household name during the cinematic era for his antagonistic roles in Yoruba movies, accompanied by his ever-vibrant recitation of chants and incantations.

Fadeyi was one of the best on-screen villains in the Yoruba movie industry, known for his darkened face and use of guns to settle disputes.
