Her early exit left followers of the show wondering what went wrong. But, it’s a game of votes; she got the least votes and had to be evicted.
Vickiola dreaded being the first to be evicted. She had told our correspondent in one of her earlier chats that her greatest fear on the show was being the first to leave. Her fears came to pass.
Vickiola, couldn’t believe she is exiting the show this early and she let tears flow down her cheeks freely. Even during her interactions with the press, she had to shed tears intermittently even though she said her early exit wouldn’t impact on her zeal to pursue her long held dream – a career in music.
She said, she is confident her exposure now and the M-Net platform was sufficient a launching pad and winning wasn’t necessarily the end all.
On whether she felt let down by her fans she said, apparently I didn’t get enough votes but am not dismayed she said, adding that she is confident in the integrity of the voting process.
She wished the remaining contestants well but tipped either Precious or Vicky for the prize.
Vickiola’s eviction came as a surprise to many and definitely an eye-opener to the remaining contestants, as her exit was heralded by rave reviews.
Music icon Onyeka Onwenu, expressed disappointment that Vickiola is leaving the show at this stage of the competition but in the same breathe, she acknowledged that this is a voting show and unfortunately she didn’t amass enough votes, that’s all this was. “It has no real bearing on her ability to deliver as a singer and I would like to see her do great things in the nearest future,” she noted.
“I believe Glo Naija Sings provides such a platform and it would be a delight to see these hopefuls blossom to the best they can be and crown one as the champion of the lot,” she said.
