Singer Robyn Rihanna Fenty who goes by the stage name "Rihanna" today marks her 29th birthday.

The Barbadian singer, songwriter, and actress was born in February 20, 1988 in Saint Michael, and was raised in Bridgetown.

 She first entered the music industry by recording demo tapes under the direction of record producer Evan Rogers in 2003. and later signed a contract with Def Jam Recordings after auditioning for hip hop producer and rapper Jay Z who was the president then.

She rose to stardom when she released her debut studio album ‘Music of the Sun’ in 2005 which was quickly followed by  ‘A Girl like Me’ in 2006.

Rihanna has since released several albums which includes Good Girl Gone Bad (2007), Rated R (2009), Loud (2010), Talk That Talk (2011), Unapologetic (2012) and Anti (2016).

She has also starred in a number of movies like Battleship, This Is the End, animation ‘Home’ amongst other.
