Vigilante killed, kidnapper arrested during rescue operation in Kwara

A member of the vigilante in Kwara State identified as Jimoh Suberu has been killed during a rescue operation for the kidnapped daughter of a slain medical doctor in Moro LGA. 

The state chairman of the Vigilante Society of Nigeria (VSN), Alhaji Saka Ibrahim Seriki Ndaji, disclosed this to our correspondent during a telephone chat on Sunday. 

He said one of the kidnapper was also shot during the gun duel on Friday and is recuperating in an undisclosed hospital in Moro. 

City and Crime gathered that the deceased from Ilọrin East LGA was “cut severally by the gunmen after gunshots failed to penetrate him”.

According to a vigilante member who preferred not to be named, the incident occurred when some of their members went after the abductors of 23-year-old Christiana Adejoke Alabi, following the murder of his father, Dr David Adefikayo. 

According to him, “After the operation and the arrest of the wounded kidnapper, we discovered that Suberu was missing and went after him in the bush only to find him lying in the pool of his blood from the gunshot sustained during the operation”, he added. 

Contacted on Sunday, the police spokeswoman, Ejire-Adeyemi Adetoun, a DSP, confirmed the rescue of the victim. He however said he would get back on the latest situation regarding the incident.
