Members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), yesterday, arrested four suspected robbers conveying iron rods around Katon Rikkos in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The suspects were however handed over yesterday to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

They were arrested around 2am on Monday conveying the materials in a Golf car with a Plateau State registration number, AA961ANW.

Vigilante Commander for Lamingo ward, Monday Azi told our correspondent that the vehicle had frequented the route very late at night for sometime or in the early hours of the morning, adding that cases of robbery were also on the rise in the general area.

“We found a lot of angle iron in the vehicle and they later confessed to have stolen the items,” he said.

The NSCDC public relations officer in the state, Tanimola Obasa, confirmed that the suspects had been handed over to them but that the suspects had insisted that they were scavengers who go from street to street in search of iron rods.

“We are still profiling them; we cannot just release them but after our investigations we will let the public know our findings,” he said.
