A suspected kidnapper was on Sunday killed during a cross fire with vigilantes and hunters in Uromi in Esan North East LGA of Edo State.

Three members of the victim’s kidnapping gang were said to have escaped with injuries following the shootout.

The suspected kidnappers were alleged to have invaded the Amedokhian Farm road near the National Institute of Construction Technology Management (NICTM) to kidnap a traveler, and that on sighting a security team, engaged them in a gun battle.

In a viral video showing the corpse of the kidnapper lying beside an AK-47 rifle, a voice was heard saying, “This is one of the kidnappers that have been kidnapping people. You can see him, others have escaped.”

When contacted about the issue, the spokesman of the Edo State Police Command, Chidi Nwabuzor, promised to get back to our reporter.
