Vigilantes have arrested two suspects, identified as Nura Bala and Lawali Umar, for allegedly stealing a ram from a neighbour’s house in Unguwar Dodo, Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT.
A vigilante member, Danjuma Musa, said the incident occurred on Saturday at about 11.12pm when the suspects were intercepted with a large ram on a motorcycle during a patrol in the area.
He said the suspects allegedly invaded the residence of one Ibrahim Gambo in Unguwar Dodo, untied the ram kept in an uncompleted building within the compound, and attempted to flee with it.
According to him, the suspects tried to escape through another route after sighting vigilante members, prompting other operatives to block and arrest them.
“As soon as they sighted our men, the suspect sitting behind and holding the ram jumped off and abandoned it, but he was chased and arrested alongside the rider,” he said.
Musa said the suspects later confessed to stealing the ram from a neighbour’s house and were subsequently handed over to the police along with the recovered animal.
A police source at the Gwagwalada Division confirmed the arrest of the two suspects over the theft of a ram valued at N320,000.
The source said the owner of the ram had been identified and the animal returned to him, adding that the suspects would be charged to court after investigation.
