A suspected bike thief simply identified as Saleh Bala was rescued from a mob by vigilantes at Bako village in Kwali Area Council of the FCT.

A member of the vigilantes, Dangana Ayuba, said the incident happened on Tuesday, near Bako Forest around 5:23pm when the suspect allegedly stole a bike in the area.

He said the suspect went to the house of one Mr Baba Audu and attempted to remove his bike but some neighbours, who sighted him, raised an alarm.

He said the suspect immediately escaped into the forest close to a river, but a mob gave him a hot chase and apprehended him.

He said, ‘’The mob started beating him, while some of them brought a cutlass to hack him but with the quick intervention of the vigilante, the suspect was rescued.”

The police in the area said the incident was not reported.
