The Police in Benue State have arrested a traditional ruler in the state over a communal dispute which allegedly resulted in the killing of at least two persons.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ene Okon, who fingered the apprehended monarch, Chief Adagbo Simon, in the communal dispute between Okwiji community and his Ugbobi community, all of Apa LGA, confirmed two persons killed.
Witnesses said 20-year-old bitter rivalry between the blood-related communities resurfaced in the early hours of last Sunday, alleging that more than two people were killed while property were also destroyed.
The police commissioner said the arrested monarch engineered the land tussle between the villages, noting that the crisis began over two decades ago.
