Sam Agbebi, another cast of TV drama ‘Village Headmaster’ who played ‘Lawyer Iyanda’ died on Tuesday after a protracted illness at the age of 64.
In his tribute, another original cast member, Chief Dan Imoudu, who acted as ‘Chief Dagbolu’ in the drama series paid tribute to his colleague, describing his demise as ‘a sad and unfortunate incident.’
He said: “He was a brother, a sincere brother. We were both actors in ‘Village Headmaster.’ He was a sincere member of my family.
According to E47 entertainment news portal, another actor, Tunji Bamishigbin, who is also a member of The ‘Village Headmaster’ production team where he was a writer/actor and later Assistant Producer and Director said: “Sam’s sudden passage has left many of us in shock. He was a committed actor, genial, loving and accommodating. I will miss his good nature. His roles in Village Headmaster is historic, considering the fact that he started as a servant in the palace, got admission to study abroad and returned to become Lawyer Iyanda, goes beyond coincidence. May his soul rest in peace.”
Agbebi was a graduate of Business Administration and worked as a banker until his demise. He started his banking career with the defunct Republic Bank and later Gateway Bank. He was also a lecturer at the Pan African University. He is survived by his wife and children.
Agbebi, one of the original casts of the ‘Village Headmaster’ initially played the role of a servant in the palace, until he actually got admission to study abroad. His character was written to have gained admission abroad and the village joined the palace to celebrate his sojourn abroad to study.
