Village heads in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been urged to co-operate with security operatives in ensuring peace and tranquillity in their various communities.
The community head of Gyada, Jibrin Hassan, who made the call said community heads play important roles in ensuring peace in their communities.
“As head of villages, we should do our duty by knowing the type of people we live with. Whenever there is a strange face, you fish him out and report him to the appropriate authorities,” he said.
Hassan said ensuring a peaceful community tops his agenda, adding that no development can take place without peace.
“I need peace and harmony, with that we can move my community forward,” he said.
Hassan said he would liaise with the area council and other agencies to provide amenities in the community explaining that his focus is on the provision of electricity and a primary healthcare centre.
“With the support of our emir, AMAC chairman and community members, we believe our cries would be heard and there will be amenities in the community,” he said.
A resident, Hassan Bala commended the area council for intervening in the headship crisis of the community adding that the residents are happy with the new chief.
He, however wants government to improve the standard of living of the FCT natives.
