The Director of the North Central office of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Grace Pam, has said about 400 cases of human rights abuses were reported to the commission’s offices in the north central, consisting of Plateau, Nasarawa, Kogi, Benue and Niger states.
Speaking yesterday in Jos at a road walk marking the 2017 International Human Rights Day, Mrs Pam said cases of violence against women and children formed the larger part of complaints received by the commission.
“In the north-central zone, over 400 cases of human rights abuses were reported to us in 2017 and 95 % of these cases border majorly on issues of violence against women and children.”
