A Kano State Chief Magistrate Court has granted bail to an APC stalwart, Abdulmajid Danbilki popularly known as Kwamanda in the sum of one million naira.
The APC chieftain, an ally of former President Muhammad Buhari was arraigned on 23 January 2024. He was charged with alleged breach of public peace and was subsequently remanded in a custodial facility pending a ruling on his bail application.
Ruling on the application, Chief Magistrate Abdulazeez Mahmud Habib held that since the case is bailable in nature, the defendant has been granted bail in the sum of one million naira, asking him to produce a surety either a permanent secretary working with Kano State government or a district head in the state.
Also the defendant and the surety must deposit their passport in the court.

The court adjourned the matter to Monday 26th February for continuation of the case.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Barrister Bashir Saleh informed the court that the Kano State Ministry of Justice intended to take over the case from the police pursuant to section 211(1) of the 1999 Constitution as amended.
The court granted them leave after the defence counsel did not oppose their application.
Daily Trust reports that Danbilki was remanded by Kano Senior Magistrate Court for alleged accusations against Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso regarding the new Kano Emirate creation, which the former governor said will be revisited.
The defendant was accused of making inciting comments capable of disturbing public peace during a radio program in Kano.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
