The United States Mission to Nigeria has said visa restrictions are not permanent.
It stressed that travel policies are subject to periodic review in line with changing global realities.
In a post shared on its official X account, the mission explained that visa regulations form part of a broader framework aimed at ensuring safe and orderly international travel.
It noted that evolving factors such as security concerns and diplomatic developments often influence how countries adjust their entry requirements.
“Visa restrictions are not permanent, and travel policies are subject to review. Strengthening security and information sharing standards for screening, vetting, identity management, and immigration makes all of us collectively safer,” the mission stated.
According to the mission, improving screening and vetting systems remains a top priority for immigration authorities.
It explained that enhanced identity management processes and better information sharing between countries are critical to verifying the backgrounds of travellers.
Officials said the measures are not only designed to protect national borders but also to strengthen collective global security.
They added that building more reliable and efficient immigration systems would help facilitate legitimate travel while addressing potential risks.
