The Nigeria Association of the Blind has donated 112 reading materials for visually impaired students to the Special Education School, Tudun Maliki in Kano State. 

The books, which include 38 in braille format and 74 others in digital formats, covering almost all the subjects being taught in the school, were donated by the association with support from World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO). 

Speaking during the presentation, the Head of the Education Committee of the association, David Udoh Okon said the intervention was part of their efforts to ensure that the blind students were not deprived of their right to literacy. 

Receiving the donation, the acting Director of the school, Hajiya Umma Musa Abubakar, said they had never received such a number of books in braille format as donations. 

She thanked the association for the kind gesture and called on other nongovernmental associations and philanthropists to emulate them.
